SlashGear Job Opportunity

At SlashGear, we cover the tech and machines shaping how people live, work, and play — from consumer gadgets and streaming platforms to power tools, cars, gaming hardware, and emerging innovations. Our editorial focus spans major tool brands like Ryobi, Milwaukee, and DeWalt, enthusiast-driven automotive insights, mainstream tech, smart home devices, and more.

As we continue to expand our coverage, we're looking for experienced technology and automotive writers who can bring clarity, authority, and compelling storytelling to specialized topics. Ideal candidates will have experience covering consumer electronics, software, electric vehicles, automotive news, gadgets, or related industries, with the ability to make complex technical subjects engaging and accessible for a broad audience. Writers will have the flexibility to contribute to technology content, automotive content, or a combination of both.

Two Ways to Contribute

We’re hiring for two freelance paths. You’re welcome to choose the opportunity that best matches your experience and availability, or indicate interest in both when you apply.

News Writer ($21–$25/hr)

Cover short-form news and evergreen content (300–900 words). Writers work a consistent schedule of their choosing (10–40 hours/week). Compensation within this range is based on experience and qualifications, with $21 per hour as the starting rate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
