Gleeson is partnering with a Global Freight Forwarder searching for a Freight Account Manager.
This is a great opportunity for a freight forwarder to join a growing business that has developed year on year their team and overall size across the UK after further investment.
This role will be the key point of contact between the customer and covering for the account supervisor supporting the growth of the account manager within the business.

Location: North - Birmingham
Salary: £32,000 - 37,000 + Bonus OTE
The Opportunity
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage import shipments from booking through to delivery, ensuring all milestones and deadlines are met.
- Maintain accurate shipment records, customer reports and tracking systems to provide clear visibility of cargo movements.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, shipping lines, hauliers, warehouses and internal teams to ensure efficient shipment execution.
- Process and oversee UK import customs declarations, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and customs requirements.
- Manage Imports of food regulations (Food, animals or goods).
- Support customs audits, duty reclaims and compliance activities through accurate documentation and record keeping.
- Prepare customer reports, shipment schedules and operational updates to support account performance.
- Manage invoicing, cost calculations, landed cost estimates and billing accuracy for customer shipments.
- Monitor vessel schedules, shipment progress and delivery performance, proactively communicating any delays or issues.
- Provide operational cover for the Account Supervisor during periods of absence and support business continuity across the account.
- Maintain and improve day-to-day activities, work instructions and account processes to support service excellence and compliance.
- Utilise operational systems to ensure accurate data management and customer visibility.

- Ocean Import Experience

- Freight Systems such as CDS / CHIEF / Cargowise / Freightroute etc.
- Microsoft Experience
