Location: Fully Remote (UK-wide or regional to Southend-on-Sea / Essex area)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £32,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + Performance Bonus & Company Pension
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, proactive Freight Forwarder to join our expanding logistics team in a 100% remote capacity.
In this role, you will focus purely on operational freight coordination and transport management from your home office. You will serve as the primary link between our commercial clients, transport partners, and international carriers—managing day-to-day bookings, securing vehicle capacity, negotiating spot rates, and ensuring shipments move reliably from collection to final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Shipment Coordination: Manage full freight movements from initial quote, route planning, and transport booking through to transit tracking and proof-of-delivery (POD).
- Carrier Sourcing & Rate Negotiation: Liaise directly with hauliers, shipping lines, and transport partners to secure capacity, negotiate competitive spot/contract rates, and protect job margins.
- Operational Documentation: Generate and manage standard transport documentation, including collection notes, CMRs, delivery manifests, and bills of lading.
- Proactive Milestone Tracking: Monitor active shipments via our TMS, keep clients updated on cargo progress, and resolve any transit bottlenecks or delays swiftly.
- Job Costing & File Reconciliation: Verify carrier invoices against agreed quotations, ensure correct margin calculations, and close out job files for billing.

Qualifications & Experience
- Industry Experience: Proven hands-on track record within freight forwarding, haulage brokerage, or transport operations (road freight, ocean, or multimodal).
- Operational Knowledge: Confident understanding of transport planning, loading meters, weight/cube limits, and equipment types.
- Remote Work Capability: Highly organized, self-motivated, and disciplined to manage high-volume operational files independently in a remote environment.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with transport management systems (TMS), load boards, and digital communication tools (Excel, Outlook, Teams/Slack).
- Negotiation & Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to negotiate rates with hauliers and deliver reliable updates to clients.
