Role Description
We're looking for an experienced Freight Operator to join our busy freight forwarding team.
And to be clear from the outset — this is not a trainee or entry-level role.

We're looking for someone who already understands freight forwarding in practice and can hit the ground running. You should have hands-on experience of:

- Managing import and/or export shipments
- Preparing freight quotations from the initial customer enquiry
- Obtaining carrier and supplier rates and building accurate customer quotations
- Booking sea, air and/or road freight
- Understanding and applying Incoterms
- Preparing and checking shipping documentation
- Working with customers, hauliers, carriers and overseas agents
- Monitoring shipments and dealing with problems when they arise
- Managing multiple shipments and deadlines independently
Quoting and Incoterms are fundamental to this role. We need someone who can take a customer enquiry, understand what is required, obtain the appropriate rates, produce a commercially sound quotation and then manage the shipment through to delivery.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication skills, including clear written and verbal interaction with customers, carriers, and internal teams.
- Experience in Operations Management and day-to-day coordination of freight activities or logistics processes.
- Proven Customer Service skills, with the ability to handle enquiries, manage expectations, and resolve issues effectively.
- Practical knowledge of Freight operations and Supply Chain Management, including documentation, customs processes, and shipment tracking.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling data, documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work on-site in Fareham, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Proficiency with logistics or ERP systems and general IT tools (e.g., MS Office); familiarity with bespoke freight software is an advantage.
- Relevant experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain; a related vocational qualification or industry training is beneficial.
