I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What the Team Is Looking For
We are looking for a candidate who brings the right attitude, communication skills, and problem-solving instinct. The team is looking for:
- Fluent French & English: Strong communication skills in both languages to interact smoothly across teams.
- Genuine Financial Curiosity: An eager mindset that looks "beyond the database." You don’t need to be a quant, but you should actually want to understand the real financial products (bonds, swaps, equities) behind the data strings.
- Pragmatism & Resourcefulness: A smart problem-solver who prioritizes ruthlessly. You secure quick wins for simple issues and avoid falling down one-hour technical rabbit holes over minor glitches while traders are waiting.
- The "Translator" Ability: Social intelligence to act as a bridge between two different worlds. You know how to talk to a stressed trader without drowning them in server logs, and you can explain issues to developers without confusing them with trading jargon.
- Solid IT Foundations: Basic-to-intermediate experience with Linux/UNIX command line and SQL for querying databases.
