Hillfox Produce Limited is a long-established independent trading operation, founded in 1991, supplying high-quality seasonal fresh produce across the UK. The company sources both local and imported products, ranging from root vegetables to specialist salads, serving a diverse customer base including wholesalers, caterers, processors, and secondary wholesalers. Hillfox is known for its flexibility in sourcing from a wide supplier network, focusing on securing the best quality produce at competitive prices. The business is based in Evesham in the South Midlands and continues to grow by meeting customers’ daily needs in a fast-moving market. Hillfox values ambitious traders who can help expand its presence and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Fresh Produce Trader role based in Evesham. The Fresh Produce Trader will manage daily telephone and electronic trading activities, buying and selling fresh produce to meet customer demand while maintaining agreed profit margins. Responsibilities include:

The role involves collaborating closely with colleagues in logistics and operations to ensure prompt delivery and customer satisfaction, while contributing to Hillfox’s overall growth and trading strategy.

Qualifications

  • Commercial trading experience in the fresh produce or related food sector, including proven ability to buy and sell products profitably.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills for dealing with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Solid understanding of fresh produce markets, seasonal trends, product quality standards, and pricing dynamics.
  • Competence with telephone-based sales, order management systems, and standard office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple deals and deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Results-focused mindset, with strong numerical skills and comfort working to commercial targets and KPIs.
  • Experience working in a wholesale market, produce trading floor, or similar environment is highly beneficial.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Evesham and collaborate closely with a small, dedicated trading team.
