Fresh Team Leader Henderson Wholesale

Attractive Salary and Benefits

38 Hour week Newtownabbey / Mallusk

Who are we?

Henderson Group are proud to be Northern Ireland’s leading foodservice provider. Our group encompasses Henderson Wholesale, Henderson Retail, Henderson Foodservice and Henderson Group Property. We employ over 5,500 staff and have been placed 3rd in Ulster Business Top 100 Companies 2025.

Henderson Wholesale plays a vital role in supplying our SPAR, EUROSPAR and VIVO stores, as well as supporting our wider foodservice operations. Within this, our Fresh Foods operation is a fast-paced, high-volume environment focused on accuracy, efficiency and maintaining the highest standards of quality and food safety across chilled and fresh product ranges.

About the Role

As our Nightshift Team Leader, you will take responsibility for coordinating a busy, multi-skilled warehouse team across assembly, loading, replenishment and forking activities. You’ll plan and allocate colleagues and equipment throughout the shift, responding to changing operational demands to ensure orders are assembled accurately, stock moves efficiently through the warehouse and vehicles are loaded safely and ready to depart on time.

This is a hands-on leadership role, so you’ll be visible on the warehouse floor and ready to provide practical support wherever it is needed. You’ll keep a close eye on productivity, accuracy, quality and hygiene standards, stepping in quickly when issues arise and making sure sufficient manpower is available to maintain a smooth and consistent flow of product throughout the operation.

People leadership will be an important part of your role. You’ll set clear expectations, encourage teamwork and accountability, and support colleagues to build their skills, confidence and performance. You’ll also assist with day-to-day performance conversations and help address attendance, conduct or capability concerns fairly and consistently, in line with company procedures.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Above all, you’ll lead by example, creating a positive, safety-focused working environment while identifying better ways of working and contributing to continuous improvement across the nightshift warehouse operation.
