Front Desk Agent | The Read House
Step into 1920s-inspired grandeur and become the welcoming face of Chattanooga’s premier historic hotel. We are seeking a Front Desk Agent to deliver an elevated, unforgettable experience for every guest. You will seamlessly guide the guest experience from their very first phone call all the way to check-out.
Position is part-time, evening shifts. Hourly rate plus incentive!
Your Responsibilities
- Welcome & Serve: Greet guests with personalized, friendly service and efficiently perform check-in and check-out procedures.
- Share Our Story: Confidently and accurately share the rich history of the hotel with our guests.
- Curate the Experience: Make, modify, and cancel reservations. Answer inquiries and provide recommendations for property facilities, local entertainment, and points of interest.
- Seamless Operations: Collect payments, issue receipts, and abide by all cash handling procedures. Coordinate guest requests with other departments and manage front desk emails.
- Grace Under Pressure: Resolve guest issues or complaints in a professional, timely manner.

What You Bring
- Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. One year of related experience is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Excellent computer skills, including typing and accurate use of the Property Management System (PMS). Basic mathematical skills are also required.
- Mindset: You possess excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail. You are able to multitask, apply patience, and perform well under pressure in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. You work efficiently both independently and in a team environment.
- Flexibility: You maintain regular, punctual attendance and can work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business requires.
WORKING DEMANDS
- Physicality: You have the ability to stand for extended periods, sometimes for an entire shift. You must be able to hear at a basic level to communicate with coworkers and guests. You can frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Environment: Expect a work environment with high guest contact and varying circumstances. You will use standard office equipment, a multi-line telephone system, two-way radios, and property software systems.
