Front End Developer
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne | Hybrid
Contract: Inside IR35 | £330–£430 per day
We’re recruiting Front End Developers for public-sector digital services, with hybrid opportunities available through the Newcastle hub.
You’ll work with engineers, designers and delivery specialists to develop accessible interfaces and improve services around the needs of their users.
Available Assignments
- £330 or £340 per day: 40% onsite working, with some travel once per sprint. BPSS required.
- £345 or £430 per day: aim of 60% onsite, potentially negotiable for the right candidate, plus monthly travel. Active SC preferred, or high confidence of SC eligibility.

What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain frontend functionality using JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js.
- Develop accessible interfaces and help ensure services meet relevant standards.
- Collaborate on technical designs and break requirements into deliverable changes.
- Integrate applications with APIs and supporting systems.
- Write automated tests, participate in code reviews and contribute to CI/CD delivery.
- Help improve the maintainability, security and reliability of the codebase.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js development experience. Your recent work should demonstrate a practical approach to testing and accessible services.

Depending on the assignment, we’re also looking for:
- HTML/CSS and browser-based testing using Selenium or Playwright.
- Express/Fastify and unit testing with Jest or Mocha.
- GDS standards and the GOV.UK Design System.
- Cloud-hosted applications and service integrations.
- Technical design, leadership and clear communication within an Agile team.
Nunjucks is useful for some assignments, but is optional in the £330/£340 briefs.
