Frontend Web Developer
Position Overview
We’re seeking a pragmatic, execution-focused frontend developer who thrives on keeping products that people actually use running, improving and shipping. You will join a small technical team as the day-to-day custodian of a suite of internally built web applications in daily use across our international offices. The role begins with technical support, bug fixes, and feature implementation on these live systems, with a path to owning the suite.
Technical Requirements
Core Frontend Skills
- Vanilla Web Technologies: Extensive experience with HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript (React/Next.js not required)
- Node.js Backends: Comfortable reading, debugging, and extending Node.js/Express REST API servers
- SQL: Confident writing and debugging T-SQL against large production databases, with the care and discipline live data demands
- API Integration: Proven ability to integrate frontend applications with RESTful API endpoints and third-party APIs
- Authenticated Applications: Experience with multi-role web applications (SSO, role-based access control)
- Azure: Working knowledge of Azure App Service, deployment slots, log streaming, and Azure DevOps repos and pipelines
- Testing Expertise: Strong experience writing and maintaining unit, subsystem, and system tests for frontend applications, and the discipline to verify in staging before touching production
- LLM-Powered Development: Extensive hands-on experience using Claude and other LLM models for code generation, debugging, and code review processes
- LLM Integration In-Product: Experience shipping LLM-powered features to end users (API integration, streaming responses, prompt payloads, graceful error handling)

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Development Approach
- Rapid Iteration: Demonstrated ability to maintain extremely fast project/feature shipping cadence
- Show, Don't Tell: Strong adherence to "iterate by showing" methodology rather than endless planning discussions
- Production Instincts: Respect for live systems, reproduce first, fix at the root, verify in staging, deploy cleanly, watch the logs

Preferred Additional Skills
- Internationalisation: Experience building multi-language user interfaces and translation-friendly frontends

- Strong system architecture instincts with ability to quickly converge on project requirements

Personal Characteristics
- Personable & Collaborative: Solid people skills, approachable, no ego or academic elitism
- Mission-Oriented: Willing to upskill, pivot, or abandon work as business needs require

- Pragmatic Executor: Focused on results
Work Environment
You'll be working with 1-2 technical colleagues and hundreds of non-technical team members. Success in this role requires someone who can bridge technical and business domains while maintaining focus on practical outcomes over technical perfectionism.
What They Value
- Shipped products that people use
- Speed of execution over architectural purity
- Business impact over technical achievement
- Collaborative problem-solving over individual heroics
- Practical solutions over elegant code
This role is ideal for a developer who has learned that the best code is code that solves real problems for real users, and who finds satisfaction in seeing their work drive actual business outcomes.
