Department: Central ESOL 19+

Location: Sandwell College

Compensation: £13.45 / hour

Description

We are looking to recruit a friendly, organised, and proactive Front House Support colleague to join our Adult Essential Skills (ESOL) team on a full-time hourly paid basis. This is a customer-facing role within the Admissions and Enrolment function, playing a key part in delivering a welcoming, efficient, and professional service to learners, visitors, and staff.

The successful candidate will support the progression of applications and enrolments, working closely with the Adult Essential Skills department to organise interviews, manage learner records, and provide high-quality front-of-house and administrative support. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and an interest in supporting adult learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist visitors, learners, and staff in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Manage building access, including intercom use, visitor sign-in, and ID checks
  • Support switchboard operations, handling phone calls, emails, and general enquiries
  • Maintain a tidy and well-organised front desk and reception area
  • Process financial transactions, including cash handling and banking procedures
  • Support the enrolment process by processing applications and related documentation
  • Contact non-attenders and learners with low attendance and chase missing eligibility paperwork
  • Provide guidance on departmental resources and support services
  • Assist with planning and promoting workshops, events, and community outreach activities
  • Maintain accurate records of learner interactions, enquiries, and data
  • Support administrative tasks including data entry, filing, photocopying, and stock control
  • Ensure learner timetables, assessments, learning logs, and course documentation are available

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
