The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes genuine pride in delivering exceptional customer service and enjoys being the welcoming face of a busy, modern commercial building. The property provides an excellent working environment for its occupiers, including an on-site gym and café, and the Building Host will play an important role in creating a professional, welcoming and well-managed experience for everyone who visits.
Working closely with the Building Manager, you will take ownership of the reception and front-of-house experience, building strong relationships with tenants, visitors and the wider building team.
The Role
As Building Host, you will be the first point of contact for tenants, visitors and guests, providing a warm, professional and proactive service at all times. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards across the reception and lobby areas, supporting the Building Manager with day-to-day administration and building operations, and working closely with security, cleaning and maintenance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Visitor & Tenant Engagement
- Meet and greet visitors in a warm, professional and engaging manner.
- Contact tenants to advise them of visitors and manage arrivals appropriately.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with tenants and their Front of House teams.
- Take an interactive approach to customer service, prioritising face-to-face communication wherever possible.
- Answer and manage incoming telephone calls, announcing and transferring calls as appropriate.
- Provide visitors and tenants with helpful information and proactively develop knowledge of the local area.
- Go above and beyond to exceed expectations and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Use initiative to resolve issues and find practical solutions.
- Take ownership and pride in the reception experience and ensure this is evident to everyone entering the building.
- Maintain excellent customer service standards while ensuring appropriate security procedures are followed.

Reception & Building Lobby Management
- Ensure reception and lobby areas are consistently presented to a high standard.
- Liaise with cleaning teams to ensure the building lobby remains clean, presentable and well maintained.
- Carry out regular reception audits and checks.
- Monitor stationery and reception supplies, raising orders with the Building Manager when required.
- Complete daily building checks and report maintenance, cleaning or presentation issues to the Building Manager.
- Ensure the reception area remains professional, welcoming and operational throughout the day.
Administration & Building Support
- Compile and distribute waste and recycling reports to tenants.
- Record meter readings and distribute information to relevant tenants and accounts teams.
- Assist the Building Manager with filing, paperwork and general administration.
- Assist with weekly fire alarm tests.
- Take a proactive role during planned evacuations and emergency procedures.
- Maintain a good understanding of building policies and procedures and follow them appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with security, cleaning and maintenance teams.
- Encourage and maintain professional relationships with tenants and visitors.
- Keep tenant contact information, including key and emergency contacts, accurate and up to date.
- Support the Building Manager with other reasonable administrative and operational duties as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is confident, approachable and naturally customer-focused, with the personality and maturity to act as the face of a high-quality commercial property.

You will ideally have:
- 2+ years' experience in a self-managed Reception, Front of House, Customer Service or similar role within a busy/high-footfall environment.
- A genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
- A confident, outgoing personality with a polished and professional approach.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing positively as part of a wider team.
- A proactive attitude and the confidence to use your own initiative.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Tact, diplomacy and an understanding of confidentiality.
- Flexibility and a willingness to take on a varied range of responsibilities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written English, including proof-reading and grammar skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- The ability to remain calm, professional and solutions-focused in a busy environment.
