Are you an experienced Front of House Security Officer with exceptional customer service skills? We are looking for an experienced, professional and adaptable Front of House Security Officer to join our team at one of Birmingham’s newest landmark buildings. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a prestigious, brand-new environment where security, professionalism and exceptional customer service are equally important. As a Security Officer, you will be one of the first points of contact for tenants, visitors and contractors. You’ll play a key role in creating a safe, welcoming and professional environment and who can build positive relationships, communicate confidently and professionally, and remain composed when dealing with high-expectation tenants or difficult situations. Your ability to turn a challenging interaction into a positive experience will be just as important as your security knowledge.
The Role
Position: Security Officer
Pay Rate: £15.00 p/h
Hours: Average 42 hours per 2 weeks - Nights and Weekends
Location: Birmingham
Licence: CCTV and DS SIA licence essential
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide a professional, welcoming and highly visible security presence throughout the building.
- Act as a key point of contact for tenants, visitors, contractors and staff.
- Deliver exceptional customer service at every interaction.
- Build positive and professional relationships with tenants and building users.
- Handle complaints, concerns and challenging conversations calmly and professionally.
- Respond appropriately to high-expectation tenants, ensuring concerns are acknowledged and dealt with effectively.
- Use strong communication and conflict-management skills to de-escalate situations.
- Provide clear and concise information in person, over the telephone and via email.
- Carry out ID and access-control checks in line with site procedures.
- Remain vigilant and proactive in identifying security, safety and Health & Safety risks.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies and incidents.
- Report any issues to the Supervisor or Duty Manager.
- Complete accurate and professional incident reports.
- Operate security, detection and emergency equipment as required.
- Work independently and use your initiative when issues arise.
- Maintain a consistently professional appearance, attitude and demeanour.
- Support the smooth operation of reception, foyer and communal areas.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other building service teams to maintain a first-class environment.

What We're Looking For
You’ll be a confident people person who understands that outstanding security is about much more than simply protecting a building.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- A valid SIA Licence.
- Previous experience within a corporate security environment.
- Proven experience delivering exceptional customer service.
- Confidence handling complaints and challenging situations.
- The ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- A calm, positive and professional approach under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to produce clear and concise incident reports.
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive and resourceful approach to problem solving.
- The confidence to work independently and use your own initiative.
- Good organisational and IT skills.
- The ability to operate security and emergency systems.
- A professional appearance and positive attitude.
- A 5-year checkable employment history.
