About The Hotel
Polurrian on the Lizard has welcomed guests for over a century, offering a true escape on Cornwall’s dramatic Southwest Coast. Perched above a secluded beach with direct access to the Southwest Coast Path, our 48-key independent hotel blends heritage, space, and relaxed luxury.
Now part of The Loxley Collection, the hotel is undergoing a £10 million investment programme, introducing an exceptional new spa and vitality hydropool with a semi-retractable roof, enhanced leisure facilities, a 120-person function space, additional family suites, and an alfresco dining terrace. A newly designed kitchen sits at the centre of our culinary experience, driving an exciting and elevated food offering.

Aim of the Role
We are looking for a friendly, professional, and enthusiastic Hotel Receptionist to join our Front Office team. As the first point of contact for our guests, you will play a key role in creating a warm welcome and ensuring every stay runs smoothly from arrival to departure.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy environment, and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.
What You’ll Be Doing
Deliver Exceptional Guest Service
- Provide a warm and professional welcome to all guests
- Manage check-ins and check-outs efficiently and accurately
- Handle guest enquiries in person, by phone, and via email
- Assist guests with information about hotel facilities and local attractions
- Resolve guest concerns promptly, escalating where necessary
- Ensure guest accounts and billing are accurate
Support Front Office Operations
- Process reservations, amendments, and cancellations
- Operate the hotel’s property management system
- Handle payments and maintain accurate records
- Communicate effectively with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Spa, and Maintenance teams
- Maintain a tidy and welcoming reception area
- Follow hotel procedures, standards, and security policies

Contribute to a Positive Team Environment

What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in hospitality or customer service (hotel experience desirable but not essential)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional telephone manner
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- A calm, positive approach under pressure
- Basic IT proficiency (PMS experience advantageous)
- Smart and professional presentation
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays
