A leading Private Bank with a focus on servicing and advising high net-worth private clients and is a premium brand in global Wealth Management.
The Role:
The Front Office Business Assurance Officer will report to the Head of Client Outcome & Control Office, and will be part of the 2nd Line of Defence (2LOD) business function, working together with the First and Third Lines of Defence. The Front Office Business Assurance Officer role is to perform business controls ensuring compliant conduct amongst Client Facing staff, to support good client outcomes while adhering to internal guidelines, policies and overall regulatory requirements.
The Front Office Business Assurance Officer will have an understanding of suitability, appropriateness, record-keeping, and fair client outcome obligations.
- The Front Office Business Assurance Officer as part of Controls monitoring will attend ad-hoc meetings with the Head of Relationship Management, Relationship Managers (RMs), Investment Advisers (IAs) and CSEs as well as Head of Conduct.
- Attend monthly meetings of Compliance/Risk partners.
- Ensure feedback of monitoring results to RMs, IAs and CSEs.
- Respond to ad-hoc requests and client issues.

The Front Office Business Assurance Officer will ensure monitoring results flow into monthly KRI / conduct scorecards.
- The Front Office Business Assurance Officer will report suspicious activity and as 2nd Line of Defence (2LOD) will have control and oversight of the wealth management business.
- Obtain and listen to Client telephone calls and escalate concerns to Team Lead.
- Conduct comprehensive review of Investment Advice and individual Trades, client files, including assessment of suitability, taking into account client’s risk profile and objectives vs implementation of investments, concentration issues, charging structure and client contact documentation for local and or cross boarder communication.
- Initial investigation and handling of complaints to completion, including drafting written responses to clients.
- Ad-hoc reviews and approval of Financial Promotion, client categorisation, changes to Service Mandates and similar modifications.

The Front Office Business Assurance Officer will monitor quality of trade documentation; ensure contemporaneous notes to file in the CRM system and pre/post-trade documentation meet internal and regulatory suitability, appropriateness and record-keeping standards. Monitor for potential risk activity and ensure that the FCA Conduct Rules are fully understood and that the highest professional and personal standards in accordance with the FCA Conduct Rules are adhered to and followed.
The Candidate
- Level 4 Wealth Management or Compliance & Risk qualification (or equivalent)
- Relevant experience within Front Office Compliance, Risk & Controls, or Business Assurance function specifically within Private Wealth Management / Private Banking, working as second line of defence.
- Familiar with the UK regulatory environment and client documentation standards.
- Interest in risk and control frameworks with detailed knowledge of KYC, Suitability and AML / Source of Wealth requirements.
