Front End Developer - Greenfield Services | £330/day Inside IR35 | Hybrid - 40% on-site in Newcastle, Manchester OR Leeds + some travel (once per sprint)

Duration: ASAP start - Initial 6 months (strong likelihood of extension)

Clearance: BPSS

About the Role

Key role within a multi-disciplinary team driving improvements through both new system functionality and changes to supporting processes. You will be working across Bereavement and Care services, initially working on Attendance Allowance. This is a greenfield application requiring technical design leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for technical design for a greenfield application, collaborating with architect and designers to shape technical approach, solution and UI
  • Drive improvements through new system functionality and changes to supporting processes, keeping user needs at the heart of the service.
  • Ensure accessibility standards (WCAG) and GDS standards & patterns are embedded throughout
  • Develop high-quality front-end solutions using JavaScript, TypeScript, Nunjucks and Node.js (Express/Fastify)
  • Work with cloud platforms AWS & Azure, utilising CI/CD pipelines
  • Deliver thorough unit level test coverage using Jest or Mocha and integrate with diverse technical systems
  • Provide technical leadership to Agile project teams, breaking down designs into deliverable technical stories
  • Communicate technical information with clarity and confidence to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Essential:

  • Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, Nunjucks (optional) and Node.js (Express/Fastify)
  • Cloud platforms AWS & Azure, CI/CD
  • Jest or Mocha - thorough unit test coverage
  • Database tech - SQL or NoSQL, caching tools such as Redis, API Microservices, cloud infrastructure
  • Knowledge of WCAG accessibility and GDS standards & patterns
  • Proven technical leadership in Agile teams
  • Clean, maintainable, secure software principles
  • BPSS clearance required
