Frontend Engineer - JavaScript, React JS, Node JS

Leeds/Manchester/London - 2 days per week in the office
12 Month contract
£450 Inside IR35

Working with a leading bank helping shape and enhance an Internal Developer Platform through secure software development, automation, cloud technologies, and live service support.

Role Responsibilities

  • Own and lead features within the Internal Developer Portal using the Jira Align framework.
  • Design, develop, and maintain frontend applications using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Write high-quality, secure code and contribute hands-on to development activities.
  • Develop reusable components, automated testing frameworks, and technical documentation.
  • Integrate RESTful APIs and support CI/CD-driven delivery pipelines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, third-party suppliers, and business stakeholders.
  • Participate in code reviews and drive continuous improvement across shared codebases.
  • Provide mentoring and technical leadership to junior team members.
  • Support live production services, resolve incidents, and implement long-term fixes.
  • Contribute to platform roadmaps and help deliver integrated developer experience solutions.

Experience Required

  • Strong commercial experience with React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js.
  • Experience building and deploying applications in Azure and/or GCP environments.
  • Expertise in automated testing using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or Jest.
  • Experience integrating REST APIs into frontend applications.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and GitHub.
  • Knowledge of secure development practices, secrets management, and DevSecOps principles.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
