Front-End Engineer โ Investment Analytics
๐ Location: London, Liverpool OR Glasgow โ Hybrid
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Front-End Engineer to help build a modern investment analytics platform, delivering intuitive applications that allow investment professionals to explore and analyse portfolio data.
This is a hands-on development role focused on building high-quality, interactive user interfaces for portfolio comparisons, risk and performance analysis, data visualisation and investment workflows.
You'll work closely with backend and quantitative developers, as well as investment stakeholders, to translate complex calculations and financial data into clear, accessible and user-friendly applications.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the user experience of an important investment technology platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain modern front-end applications using React and TypeScript.
- Build interactive interfaces for portfolio comparisons, risk and performance analysis.
- Develop data-rich dashboards, interactive charts and complex data grids.
- Integrate front-end applications with backend APIs and calculation services.
- Build intuitive drill-down functionality and what-if analysis workflows.
- Develop exception-review interfaces and data-driven user journeys.
- Work closely with backend and quantitative developers to present complex information clearly.
- Collaborate directly with investment users to understand requirements and improve usability.
- Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
- Implement automated testing and maintain high standards of application quality.
- Ensure applications are accessible, responsive and performant.

Technical Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript, or a comparable modern front-end framework.
- Experience building complex, data-intensive applications.
- Strong understanding of modern JavaScript and front-end development principles.
- Experience integrating applications with REST APIs or comparable backend services.
- Experience building interactive charts, dashboards and data visualisations.
- Experience working with complex data grids and large datasets.
- Knowledge of front-end testing frameworks and automated testing.
- Understanding of accessibility, responsive design and application performance.
- Strong software engineering practices, including version control and code reviews.

Desirable Experience
- Experience within financial services, investment management, wealth management or trading.
- Exposure to portfolio analytics, investment risk or performance applications.
- Experience translating complex datasets into intuitive user interfaces.
- Experience working directly with business users and technical stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a strong application engineer who takes pride in building intuitive, reliable and high-quality user experiences.
You'll be comfortable working with complex data and collaborating with backend and quantitative engineers to make technical outputs accessible to end users.
Financial services experience would be beneficial, but it isn't essential. Strong front-end engineering skills, application design and usability are the priorities.
Experience using AI coding assistants is expected, alongside the ability to properly review, test and validate AI-generated code.
You'll be joining a small, collaborative team with the opportunity to take ownership of significant parts of the platform and work closely with investment professionals.
