Job Description: Frontend Development Intern
Our partner is a Birmingham-based firm that is currently struggling with internal tools that have become disconnected over time. These broken links create significant operational drag, forcing their staff to rely on manual workarounds and spreadsheets to get their work done. We are looking for a Frontend Development Intern to help us bridge these gaps. In this role, you will work on the interfaces that sit between their existing software systems, ensuring that data flows correctly and that users have clear, functional tools to use. This is a fully remote position where your focus will be on fixing the UI issues that slow people down.
About Tech Pipeline
We fix the friction that slows companies down, focusing on broken approval chains and manual reconciliations. Our team looks at the seams between the software a client already owns and the work that actually needs to happen. We go deep into the configuration and the logs to find where data goes bad or where a process has degraded into chaos.
- We do not deliver slide decks or abstract frameworks: we rebuild specific routing rules and update stale SOPs.
- We stay through the cutover and the first month of live operation to make sure the fix holds.
- Once a client team can run the system without us, we leave.
- We value clear documentation, named ownership, and plain English in everything we build.
What You Will Do
- Build and update frontend components using JavaScript and CSS to improve the usability of internal client tools.
- Review existing user interfaces to identify where users are hitting friction points or where data entry is failing due to poor layout.
- Translate process requirements into functional frontend elements that match the client's existing technical constraints.
- Write and update documentation and runbooks so the client team can maintain the interface after we finish our engagement.
- Participate in testing sessions to ensure new frontend fixes handle edge cases and stop data from becoming stale.
- Clean up CSS debt and redundant code that causes internal pages to load slowly or break on different screen sizes.
- Collaborate with the operations team to ensure the frontend properly reflects the backend routing rules and logic.

What You Bring
- Basic proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with a willingness to learn how to apply these skills to complex business tools.
- A curious mindset regarding how systems break and a desire to see how software works under the hood in a real business setting.
- The ability to communicate technical problems and solutions in plain English without using jargon.
- Familiarity with Git for version control and basic comfort using a command line.
- A focus on getting things done correctly rather than searching for a perfect, abstract architecture that does not fit the problem.
- Attention to detail when it comes to following a technical requirement or matching an existing interface style.
- The discipline to manage your own schedule and tasks effectively in a fully remote environment.

How We Work
We rely on clear documentation and the decision log to keep everyone aligned across different time zones. Instead of filling your calendar with status meetings, we prioritize weekly written updates and asynchronous communication. We believe the tool a client already owns is usually the right place for the fix, so we spend our time learning those systems inside and out. We focus on the specific routing rule, the consolidated backlog, and the updated SOP. Once a process is stable and the client's team can run it without us, we move on to the next challenge.
