Front End Engineer
đź’° ÂŁ375/day (Inside IR35) đź“Ť Leeds (2 days onsite)
đź“… 1 year Contract
Our client is looking for an experienced Front End Engineer to join an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) engineering team, designing and building modern frontend applications using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript. This is a highly hands-on engineering role where you’ll contribute code regularly, build reusable components, integrate REST APIs, and develop automated testing as part of the delivery lifecycle. You’ll also contribute to CI/CD, cloud deployments, and the ongoing support and improvement of a business-critical developer platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build frontend applications using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Own and drive features within an Internal Developer Platform (IDP).
- Build reusable frontend components and contribute to shared code libraries.
- Integrate RESTful APIs into frontend applications.
- Write unit tests using Jest / React Testing Library.
- Develop end-to-end automated testing using Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting application delivery.
- Apply secure development practices, including secrets management and CI/CD security.
- Build and deploy applications to Azure and/or GCP.
- Participate in code reviews, prototyping, and technical documentation.
- Contribute to platform and product roadmaps and continuous improvement.
- Provide hands-on production/live service support, resolving incidents and implementing long-term fixes.
- Lead technical discussions with engineering teams, SMEs, and senior stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and support technical upskilling across teams.

Essential Skills
- Strong hands-on React.js development experience.
- Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills.
- Node.js experience.
- Strong frontend engineering and reusable component development experience.
- Jest and React Testing Library experience.
- Automated functional/E2E testing using Playwright, Cypress, and/or Selenium.
- Experience integrating REST APIs.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience deploying applications to Azure and/or GCP.
- Strong Git / GitHub experience.
- Understanding of secure development and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience supporting production/live applications.

- Backstage / Internal Developer Platform experience.
- Terraform / Infrastructure as Code.
- Kubernetes.
- PostgreSQL.
- DevOps / Platform Engineering experience.
