About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Frontend Engineer to lead and shape our frontend engineering efforts. In this pivotal role, you will work across multiple cross-functional squads comprising engineers, designers, data analysts, and product managers. Your primary focus will be to ensure the technical excellence of our web applications, drive consistency across our frontend stack, and lead migration initiatives to adopt new frameworks and capabilities. As a TypeScript-first organization, our frontend stack includes TypeScript, React, SCSS, Next.js, and Express, with testing frameworks such as Vitest and Chromatic. You will bring deep expertise in modern web technologies, guiding the team through complex technical challenges and setting standards for quality, security, and performance. Additionally, you will spearhead our AI engineering practice on the frontend, establishing standards for AI tool integration, guardrail architecture, and quality assurance. Your leadership will foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous learning, helping us maintain our competitive edge and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

  • At least 5+ years of experience in frontend development, building and operating large-scale production web applications.
  • Proven track record of leading complex, high-impact projects within fast-paced environments.
  • Deep expertise in modern CSS/SCSS, HTML, and ECMAScript standards.
  • Extensive experience with TypeScript and React, including hooks, component composition, and transitions.
  • Strong understanding of frameworks like Next.js, handling SSR, routing, and data fetching.
  • Experience in writing comprehensive unit and end-to-end tests, and developing CI/CD workflows.
  • Recognition as a technical authority in frontend engineering, capable of influencing product and engineering decisions.
  • Ability to translate business priorities into technical solutions and defend decisions through reasoning.
  • Experience with legacy systems, evaluating frameworks, and making pragmatic build-vs-refactor-vs-replace decisions.
  • Interest and experience in integrating AI tools into development workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of meaningful product features, from design handoff to production deployment, ensuring accessibility and performance standards.
  • Author and maintain API contracts and technical documentation, establishing clear specifications and success criteria.
  • Drive consistency across all web properties by designing and enforcing frontend standards and best practices.
  • Lead migration efforts to adopt new framework features, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
  • Set and uphold security standards, including client-side security measures such as CSP and XSS prevention, as well as data governance and reliability protocols.
  • Manage the build and deployment pipeline, monitor performance, and optimize hosting and infrastructure decisions.
  • Mentor and develop engineers into technical leaders, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and high standards.
  • Lead the integration of AI tools like Kiro into the frontend workflow, establishing best practices and standards for AI-assisted development.
  • Evaluate new frameworks, tools, and third-party vendors, providing build-vs-buy recommendations based on technical and commercial factors.
  • Participate in incident reviews, security audits, and performance tuning to maintain high reliability and user experience.
