Frontend Software Engineer
Hunmanby, North Yorkshire | Full-time | Hybrid

We are looking for a talented Frontend Software Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering team at our Hunmanby, North Yorkshire headquarters. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of DSEWebNet®, our cloud-based IoT platform, helping to deliver intuitive and reliable user experiences for customers across the globe.
The Role
As a Frontend Software Engineer, you will work within a multidisciplinary Cloud Engineering team to design, develop, test, and maintain modern web applications using React, TypeScript, and Next.js. You will help create responsive, accessible, and scalable user interfaces that enable customers to monitor and manage power generation, energy control, and automation equipment in near real time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining the DSEWebNet® web platform using React, TypeScript, and Next.js
- Building reusable, accessible, and responsive user interface components
- Creating dashboards and data visualisations for live and historical telemetry information
- Integrating frontend applications with REST APIs and real-time WebSocket data feeds
- Implementing robust state management, form handling, and client-side validation solutions
- Writing and maintaining automated unit, component, and end-to-end tests
- Working closely with backend engineers to deliver seamless application experiences
- Contributing to shared component libraries, design systems, and frontend architecture decisions
- Supporting CI/CD processes and maintaining high standards of code quality
- Monitoring and improving application performance, accessibility, and usability
- Participating in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Producing clear and professional technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle

About You
We're looking for a motivated software engineer with a passion for modern web development, user experience, and delivering high-quality software solutions. You will have:
- Commercial experience developing web applications using React and TypeScript
- Experience working with Next.js in a professional or significant project environment
- Strong HTML, CSS, and responsive web design skills
- Experience integrating frontend applications with REST APIs
- Knowledge of WebSocket technologies and real-time data handling
- Experience writing automated frontend tests
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills
- A quality-focused approach to software development
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- A keen eye for user experience and interface design
- The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced development environment
- A proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement
- Experience building and deploying production-ready React applications

Qualifications
- Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Web Development, or a related discipline
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, or cloud-native technologies would be advantageous
