About the Role

School Jotter is a website and digital platform used by schools to manage their websites, content, and communications.

We’re looking for a Web Developer to join the School Jotter team, primarily building high-quality, responsive website themes for schools using our in-house CMS.

This is a hands-on front-end development role. You’ll take designs and customer requirements and turn them into polished, responsive school websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

We’re particularly interested in someone with an excellent eye for detail who takes pride in getting the small things right.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Building new school website themes within the School Jotter CMS.
  • Turning supplied designs and briefs into accurate, high-quality websites.
  • Writing clean, well-structured HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Creating responsive layouts using Flexbox and CSS Grid.
  • Adding JavaScript functionality where required.
  • Making sure websites work well across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
  • Testing websites across modern browsers and devices.
  • Checking typography, spacing, alignment, imagery, colors, and overall consistency.
  • Identifying and fixing styling, layout, and functionality issues before websites go live.
  • Maintaining and improving existing School Jotter themes.
  • Working with designers, developers, and other members of the School Jotter team.
  • Helping us improve and standardize our library of reusable themes and components.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ll be the sort of person who notices when a heading isn’t quite aligned, spacing is inconsistent, a mobile layout doesn’t work properly, or something simply doesn’t match the original design.

You should be comfortable receiving a design or brief and taking responsibility for turning it into a finished website.

We’re looking for someone who is organized, reliable, and productive, communicates well, and takes pride in the quality of their work.

You should also be interested in modern web development and willing to embrace new tools, including AI-assisted development, where they can help you work faster and produce better results.

Why Join School Jotter?

  • You’ll work on a wide variety of school websites rather than building the same thing every day.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to develop your front-end skills while helping us improve the next generation of School Jotter website themes and components.

School Jotter is an established education technology company that has been building digital products for schools and organizations for more than 20 years.

If you’re a detail-oriented web developer who enjoys turning designs into polished, responsive websites, we’d love to hear from you.
