Fuel Specialist – Fixed Term Contract

37.5 hours per week

We're looking for a customer-focused and proactive Fuel Specialist to join our team on a fixed term contract for 12 months. You'll play a key role in delivering an efficient procurement service, providing expert support to our Members while ensuring a seamless customer experience across our fuel products and services.

Working closely with the Procurement Manager and wider Fuel team, you'll manage Member enquiries, support procurement activities, and help drive the continued development and digitisation of our fuel offering. You'll also build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure excellent service, competitive pricing, and reliable delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and support across our fuel services.
  • Manage Member enquiries via telephone, email, and our online platforms.
  • Process orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring competitive pricing and agreed delivery timescales.
  • Support and administer our Tankscout, Fuel Card, Fuel and LPG Top-Up services.
  • Keep Members informed throughout the order process, proactively communicating any delivery issues or supplier constraints.
  • Investigate unsuccessful quotations, identifying trends and reporting findings to support procurement improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to grow Member engagement, increase volumes, and promote additional products and services.
  • Support seasonal sales campaigns and proactively upsell relevant products where appropriate.
  • Assist with administrative tasks to support the wider Fuel team.
  • Work collaboratively with the invoicing team to resolve Member and supplier billing queries.
  • Attend supplier meetings when required and represent AF professionally.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of Fuel services and processes.

About You

You'll be an excellent communicator with a passion for delivering outstanding customer service. You’ll enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities, and are committed to providing a positive experience for every Member. Alongside this you’ll have;

  • Previous experience in a customer service environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and other IT systems.
  • Ability to analyse information and communicate findings clearly.
  • Proactive, positive, and customer-focused approach.
  • Able to build strong relationships with Members and suppliers.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
