Cleaner / Fueller / Shunter

Join Arriva and play an important role behind the scenes in keeping our bus services running smoothly every day. We are looking for reliable and hardworking Cleaner / Fueller / Shunters to help maintain our fleet to the highest standards, ensuring our buses are clean, fuelled, safe, and ready for service.

This is a hands-on role within a busy bus depot environment, ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and works well as part of a team. Whether you already have experience in the bus industry, transport, logistics, vehicle cleaning, or depot operations, or you are looking to start a career in the industry, we would love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Cleaner / Fueller / Shunter, your responsibilities will include:

  • Cleaning buses internally and externally to ensure they are presented to a high standard for passengers and drivers
  • Sweeping, mopping, sanitising surfaces, cleaning windows, and removing waste from vehicles
  • Refuelling buses safely and efficiently in line with company procedures
  • Moving and positioning buses around the depot safely for cleaning, maintenance, fuelling, and service preparation
  • Carrying out basic visual vehicle checks and reporting any damage or defects
  • Supporting the overall cleanliness and organisation of the depot and work areas
  • Following all health and safety procedures, including the safe use of cleaning products, fuel equipment, and PPE

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for motivated individuals who are dependable, safety-conscious, and ready to work in a fast-paced depot environment.

Key requirements include:

  • Full UK driving licence required
  • PCV / Category D licence preferred, although training opportunities may be available
  • Previous experience in vehicle cleaning, fuelling, shunting, transport, logistics, warehouse, or industrial environments is desirable
  • Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
  • Ability to work outdoors and carry out physical duties
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or within a team
  • Flexible approach to shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
