Fulfilment & Logistics Manager - Birmingham Based

Our client is a Wholesale business that is rapidly growing and has ambitions over the next few years to grow the business and the Transport Manager will play a key part in supporting these ambitions. This role is ideal for an inspirational leader with a proven track record in Transport & Logistics, particularly wholesale, retail, grocery, B2B or B2C environments. If you are commercially minded, passionate about customer service, and thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

What does the role involve?

As the Fulfilment & Logistics Manager, you will report directly to the Head of Operations and take a proactive role in managing and developing the transport/logistics and operations to ensure the highest standards of service, compliance, and efficiency. You will oversee a team, manage fleet maintenance, and ensure all operational procedures are followed to meet KPIs and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the end-end process in fulfilling customers’ orders (Pick-Pack-Deliver).
  • Manages the team to ensure all operating procedures are fully complied with and all KPIs are consistently met.
  • Customer service; act as the primary point of contact for all deliver-rated queries and resolve any delivery issues promptly, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
  • Planning & Coordination: Ensure effective daily route planning, manage absences, holidays, and breaks, and react swiftly to challenges and spikes in workload.
  • Team Performance: Develop the team through training and performance management, ensuring they meet objectives and addressing performance issues swiftly.
  • Takes proactive ownership of fleet maintenance & compliance across all vehicles.

What qualities will you need to be successful?

  • Experience: Proven background in Transport/Operations and Logistics management, ideally within large space wholesale, retail, grocery, B2B, or B2C sectors.
  • Leadership Skills: A natural leader with a strong ability to inspire and manage a team, driving performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Customer Focused: A passion for delivering excellent customer service and finding solutions to any issues that arise.
  • Commercial Minded: Able to manage operational costs effectively while driving efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, prioritize, and react swiftly to changes in workload and unexpected challenges.
