Role Description
We’re looking for an experienced Fulfilment Shift Manager to join our team at Rubies UK.
This is a hands-on operational leadership role for someone with a strong background in high-volume eCommerce fulfilment, ideally gained within FMCG, apparel, fashion, or a similarly fast-paced consumer environment.
We’re particularly interested in someone who understands the demands of a high SKU, high-volume operation, where customer expectations, seasonal peaks, short order-to-despatch times, and carrier cut-offs are critical to success.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Providing operational leadership across high-volume eCommerce and B2B outbound fulfilment
- Managing fast-paced eCommerce order flows and ensuring customer orders are despatched within agreed SLAs
- Coordinating workloads and prioritising activity around order volumes, carrier cut-offs, and customer requirements
- Leading Functional Supervisors with clear direction, support, and accountability
- Monitoring operational KPIs and taking immediate action where performance falls below expectations
- Managing labour deployment throughout the shift to respond to changing volumes, remove bottlenecks, and protect customer service
- Supporting the operation through seasonal peaks and significant fluctuations in eCommerce demand
- Driving productivity while maintaining high standards of pick, pack, and despatch accuracy
- Ensuring strong Health and Safety, 5S, and SOP compliance
- Maintaining system discipline across WMS and ERP processes
- Leading operational incident management and escalating risks where required
- Supporting continuous improvement and embedding standard ways of working across the operation

What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience within high-volume eCommerce fulfilment
- Previous experience in a Shift Manager, Operations Manager, or similar warehouse leadership role
- Experience within FMCG, apparel, fashion, or another fast-moving consumer environment would be highly desirable
- Experience managing operations with high SKU counts and significant seasonal or promotional volume peaks
- Strong understanding of eCommerce pick, pack, and despatch operations
- Experience working to demanding same-day or next-day carrier cut-offs and customer SLAs
- Experience leading through Supervisors or Team Leaders in a busy warehouse environment
- Strong understanding of warehouse KPIs, productivity, and labour management
- Comfortable working with WMS and ERP systems and using operational data to make decisions
- A practical, hands-on leadership style with the ability to remain calm and make decisions in a fast-moving environment

Role boundaries:
- Accountable for shift execution, not long-term strategy or budget ownership
- Responsible for labour deployment within agreed plans, with no authority to approve headcount
- Responsible for operational system use and issue escalation, not system configuration ownership
- Acting under delegated authority during the shift, not replacing the Head of Fulfilment

- Backlog management and order ageing

We’re looking for someone who understands eCommerce fulfilment, can lead from the front, and is comfortable taking control of a fast-moving operation where volumes and priorities can change quickly. Experience within apparel or fashion fulfilment would be particularly advantageous, but we’d also welcome candidates from FMCG or other high-volume consumer fulfilment environments.
