Full-Stack Developer – CRM & Automation
Wave Direct Ltd (Wave Spas, Wave Watersports, Wave Saunas)
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (on-site / hybrid: TBC)
Type: Full-time or part-time, permanent
Salary: Subject to Experience
We're hiring a hands-on developer to own our in-house CRM and automate the manual work across a fast-growing, multi-brand, multi-channel e-commerce business.
About Wave
We design and sell hot tubs, saunas, paddleboards and watersports gear under the Wave Spas, Wave Watersports and Wave Saunas brands
- We sell D2C through Shopify across the UK, US and EU, plus major marketplaces and retailers
- Products are designed in-house, manufactured overseas and shipped from UK, US and EU warehouses
- Small, ambitious team: the founders are hands-on with the tech, and we'd rather build the right tool than hire around a manual process
The Role
Your job is to make our Laravel CRM the single source of truth for the business and to automate the work our team does by hand.
- Own our CRM end to end: architecture, roadmap, build, deploy, support
- Connect it to our core systems so data flows without copy-paste
- Find manual processes across ops, customer service and marketing, then automate them
- Take over and extend our existing middleware automation
- Work directly with the Chairman, who is technical and already builds alongside AI tools: you'll be trusted, challenged and given real ownership

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you'll build
- CRM (Laravel): sales and targets reporting, product information management, marketing planning and performance reporting
- Use of Claude Code is essential for speed and delivery
- Integrations: Brightpearl (ERP), Shopify (multi-store, multi-market), Zendesk, Klaviyo and our marketplaces
- Middleware and automation: stock, orders, tracking and pre-order flows, plus customer service, marketing and operations workflows
- AI-powered tools using LLM APIs
- Engineering hygiene: secure credentials, monitoring and alerting, and clear documentation
Our Stack
Laravel / PHP / MySQL, Brightpearl, Patchworks, Shopify, Zendesk, Klaviyo, Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Amazon, Walmart, Mirakl, Claude, Gemini
What you'll bring
- 3+ years building production web apps in PHP and Laravel
- Strong API integration experience: REST, GraphQL, OAuth, webhooks, pagination, rate limits and retries
- Shopify Admin API experience (GraphQL preferred)
- Solid SQL and data modelling
- You build reliable automations: idempotent, de-duplicated, logged, and they fail loudly rather than silently corrupt data
- Comfortable owning projects end to end, from scoping with the business to shipping and supporting
- Clear communicator who writes things down
- You use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor or similar) to move faster, and you review what they produce
