About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Full Stack JavaScript Developer to join our Experience Engineering team. In this role, you will:

  • Lead the development of innovative web and mobile applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver engaging solutions that meet our clients' needs.
  • Audiencedolutely lead groundbreaking projects involving the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems.
  • Be part of a team pushing the boundaries of what is possible and making a real impact on the future of defence.

Hybrid working model: Your working pattern will be a blend of office presence, client sites, and home, with no 100% remote work option.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of developers, ensuring best practices, high-quality code, and collaborative innovation.
  • Design, develop, and maintain front-end components of web and mobile applications, including:
    • React, Angular, TypeScript, Bootstrap 5, HTML, CSS
  • Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) using tools like Karma to ensure robust, high-quality code.
  • Utilise AI-augmented development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to enhance productivity, consistency, and reduce boilerplate.
  • Collaborate with architects and developers to design scalable, secure architectures for new projects and system enhancements.
  • Lead and participate in agile processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Full stack JavaScript development experience, with expertise in Node.js and related technologies.
  • Proven leadership or senior development experience, including mentoring and guiding technical teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Nest.js, Remix.js) and back-end frameworks (e.g., Express.js, Nest.js, Hapi.js).
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot.
  • Understanding of best practices in software architecture, collaboration, and innovation.

TDD & Team Collaboration

  • Application of Test-Driven Development methodologies.

Technical Proficiencies

  • Front-end: React, Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap 5
  • Back-end: Node.js, JavaScript, supported by a selection of powerful frameworks.
  • Tools & Assisted Development: GitHub Copilot (or similar AI coding tools).

Security Clearance

This role requires obtainment of Security Check (SC) clearance prior to taking up the position.

Key Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have resided continuously in the UK for the past 5 years.
  • Additional verification processes, including pre-employment checks such as:
    • Identity
    • Nationality or dual status
    • Immigration status
    • Employment history over the last 3 continuous years
    • Unspent criminal record check (Disclosure and Barring Service)

The recruitment process will include queries on your security clearance eligibility.
