Our production is handled in Italy in the biggest and most prestigious shoe design and development cluster in the world called The Shoe Valley (Located in Le Marche, Italy).

Job Description

The AliveShoes platform is made by 2 pieces:

  • The first one is the main user-facing platform, that includes the onboarding website, the shoe-building tools, the e-commerce platform, the user dashboards.
  • The second one is the internal dashboard that tracks users, products, data, supply chain, and manages content.

You'll be working on both pieces, improving the actual website, and building new features to improve the platform, the internal processes, and data collection.

You will develop front-end parts of the platform using the web stack: Javascript/Html5/Css3/JQuery/Foundation Framework.

You will develop back-end parts of the platform using the web stack: Ruby/ Ruby on Rails/PostgreSQL/Nginx/AWS.

You will monitor a huge user base, collect data points using Google Analytics or MixPanel, and improve internal dashboards.

You will perform scalability and maintainability software improvements in order to increase the performance of the applications.

You will perform manual user testing and you will be using user testing software to improve the UI of the website.

Requirements

  • You can design scalable and maintainable software, you like to fully document it, and you are able to write your own automated tests.
  • You have strong back-end skills using Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
  • You have a good background in Javascript.
  • You have some experience with AWS.
  • You have experience with PostgreSQL (or similar).
  • You can create professional responsive front-end.
  • You have strong front-end skills using javascript/html5/css3.
  • You have experience with JQuery.
  • You have a great sense of design.
  • You are a pixel-perfect practitioner.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in software design and have worked with a professional team of engineers or have developed applications with more than 10k users yourself.
  • You have a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent knowledge in software design.
  • You are an analytical thinker and you are able to manage and monitor big loads of data.
  • You have great organizational skills, you are a multi-tasker, problem solver, and you love to get things done.
  • You are able to execute quickly in a chaotic and challenging startup environment.
  • You are able to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • You are able to manage other software developers.
  • You are eager to learn new programming languages, new technologies, and you have an experimental bias.

Details

  • We normally review applications weekly. If we find a fit, we will get back to you in less than a week.
  • The first part of the process involves an initial Skype call.
  • The second part of the process will be a 1-2 day full working day with us. We will fly you from wherever you are located and reimburse reasonable expenses.
  • The hiring period is divided into two phases: a 3-month trial period, and a 1-year to 3-year contract after the trial.
  • For this position, you will get about gross 4,000$/month for the 3-month trial, and about gross 5,000$/month for the contract (this may vary based on the experience). You can get a workstation of your choice. One paid all-inclusive travel a year to a tech event. Possibility to work in the US at times. Possibility to work from remote, when the situation makes it possible.
  • You will also get a package of shares in the American holding company, with a 3-year vesting period, if your trial will be successful.
  • The job is based in Italy (Le Marche/Milan), with possible travels to the USA and Europe, with also the possibility to work from remote.
  • All travel expenses are paid by the company (life + travel, including accommodation).
