Role Summary
NETbuilder is looking for Full-Stack Developers with 4+ years of professional Java development experience to join our engineering team.
We're looking for developers with strong core Java and Spring/Spring Boot fundamentals who are comfortable working through complex or ambiguous requirements, asking the right clarifying questions, and translating requirements into well-designed technical solutions. You will build, enhance, and support scalable web applications, REST APIs, and enterprise platforms using Java, Spring Boot, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, Oracle/MySQL, Git, and CI/CD tooling.
You’ll work across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement.

- Analyse complex technical requirements, identify ambiguities, and ask appropriate clarifying questions.
- Design secure, scalable, maintainable, and RESTful APIs following established API design conventions.
- Make appropriate technical design decisions around identifiers, data types, pagination, error handling, HTTP methods, and status codes.
- Create and maintain OpenAPI/Swagger specifications and interface contracts.
- Design relational data models and implement persistence layers using Oracle and/or MySQL.
- Build reusable React components using modern JavaScript and TypeScript practices.
- Write optimised SQL queries and support database performance tuning.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or Spinnaker.
- Manage source control, branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews using Git.
- Contribute across requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Investigate production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement appropriate fixes.
- Produce clear technical documentation, including API specifications, deployment guides, runbooks, and support documentation.
- Collaborate with architects, QA engineers, DevOps teams, product owners, and business stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
