About The Role

We are seeking a Full Stack Developer to join our internal development team. As a full stack Developer, you will be responsible for developing, testing and maintaining existing web-based applications, as well as creating new applications. This will involve development using Typescript with React.JS libraries and the Node.JS framework within an Azure environment linked to an Azure SQL Server databases.

You will be involved with the creation and support of in-house developments that are replacing existing critical systems that are now end of life. These solutions are part of the integral systems at Matalan of all the buying, merchandising and supply chain activities, from stores to warehouses and vice versa.

In addition to this there will be opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills within the team to be involved in development with Oracle PL/SQL code and Microsoft T-SQL, creating new integrations using the latest low code/no code solutions.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including database ETL developers, database administrators, and business analysts, to design and implement efficient and scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain typescript application code to meet business requirements and functional specifications.
  • Design, implement, and optimize database structures, queries, and stored procedures to ensure high performance and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with database ETL developers, business analysts, and database administrators to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application-related issues, such as performance bottlenecks, data integrity problems and application defects.
  • Conduct thorough unit testing and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including database schemas, data dictionaries and design documents.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in web development and related technologies.

About You

  • Experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Front End/Full Stack Developer, with an understanding of application development best practices.
  • TypeScript and experience of Web development and using React.js/Node.js for UI development.
  • Familiarity with web development tools, such as Visual Studio and GitHub.
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization techniques to improve performance.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to debug and resolve application-related issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work within specified deadlines.
