About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full Stack Developer with a strong background in PHP development. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of backend development, with additional experience in Python being highly desirable. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the technical architecture of our flagship platform, New Health, and to work closely with cross-functional teams including product management, marketing, clinical, and UX to deliver impactful features.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and backend services that support our healthcare platform. This role involves building integrations with third-party healthcare APIs, developing secure AI-driven workflows, and ensuring the platform’s performance, security, and scalability. Working directly alongside senior leadership, you will help shape the technical direction of our products and contribute to our mission of transforming healthcare access and delivery.

Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of commercial software development experience, with a proven track record in backend development.
- Strong expertise in PHP and experience in building and maintaining web applications and backend services.
- Experience in integrating APIs and designing database-backed applications, particularly with MySQL.
- Proficiency in frontend development using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git and GitHub workflows.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Linux environments for deployment and development.
- Demonstrated ability to develop secure, scalable, and high-performance production systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- A degree in Computer Science or an equivalent level of commercial experience in software development.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain PHP-based web applications and backend services to support healthcare workflows and features.
- Build and optimize integrations with third-party APIs, healthcare systems, and data sources to ensure seamless interoperability.
- Develop secure and efficient AI-driven features, workflows, and algorithms to enhance platform capabilities.
- Design, implement, and maintain robust MySQL databases and supporting infrastructure to ensure data integrity and performance.
- Create and improve responsive frontend interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks, HTML, and CSS to deliver an excellent user experience.
- Collaborate effectively with product, marketing, clinical, and UX teams to deliver new features, updates, and product improvements.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize platform performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, technical strategy, and the adoption of engineering best practices across the development team.
- Support deployment processes, monitor system health, and participate in ongoing platform operations and maintenance.

Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on backend systems.
- Extensive experience working with PHP in a commercial environment.

- Strong frontend development skills utilizing JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Proficiency with Git, GitHub, and version control workflows.

- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation processes.
