Your Role And Responsibilities

We're looking for experienced Full Stack Developers to join IBM Consulting FutureNow and help deliver mission-critical solutions for some of the UK's most complex and interesting technology programmes.

As part of our Digital Product Engineering practice, you'll work within multidisciplinary Agile teams to design, build, test and deploy secure cloud-native applications. You'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of projects, technologies and domains, helping clients solve real-world challenges whilst continuing to develop your own technical and consulting skills.

This is a hands-on engineering role for developers who enjoy building modern applications, solving technical problems and working collaboratively with both colleagues and clients.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you'll contribute across the full software development lifecycle, taking ownership of technical delivery whilst helping to drive engineering excellence within your team.

You Will

  • Design, develop, test and deploy modern cloud-native applications.
  • Build secure, scalable and maintainable solutions across front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Develop APIs, integrations and services within distributed and microservices-based architectures.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, product owners and client stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to solution development activities.
  • Support code reviews, mentoring and knowledge sharing across delivery teams.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, automation, continuous integration and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges while maintaining a focus on quality, security and performance.
  • Apply modern software engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

IBM Consulting needs system-level thinkers & consultative software engineers with experience across both front-end and back-end development. Nobody is expected to have experience with every technology listed below, so if your background aligns with the majority of these areas, we'd encourage you to apply.

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate a solid engineering foundation, cloud experience and a willingness to continue learning.

Essential

  • Strong commercial experience developing full-stack applications.
  • Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React.
  • Experience developing back-end services using technologies such as Node.js, Java, Spring Boot or Python.
  • Experience developing and consuming APIs and integration services.
  • Experience working with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

Security Requirements

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).

Due to the nature of the work undertaken, successful candidates may also be required to meet the eligibility requirements for UK National Security Vetting (NSV). Depending on client and project requirements, this may include obtaining and maintaining Enhanced Security Check (eSC) and/or Enhanced Developed Vetting (eDV) clearance.
