Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead

Our banking client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead to drive strategic technology delivery across several high‑impact automation and modernisation initiatives. This is a hands‑on, agentic engineering role suited to someone who thrives in complex environments, shapes technical direction, and elevates engineering standards across multiple Scrum teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Contribution — shaping technology roadmaps and influencing long‑term engineering direction.
  • End‑to‑End Solution Design — architecting back‑to‑front solutions using modern technologies and industry best practice.
  • Hands‑On Delivery — refactoring legacy systems, shipping new features, resolving defects, and strengthening software resilience.
  • Scrum Leadership — building and managing backlogs, guiding delivery of innovative automation solutions.
  • Technical Governance — acting as principal gatekeeper for design reviews, code reviews, and technology sign‑off.
  • Mentorship & Enablement — serving as a trusted technical advisor across all Scrum teams.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Deep experience deploying modern development methodologies at scale within enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands‑on expertise with Java 8+ (ideally 17+), REST API best practice, and SQL optimisation.
  • Proficiency with modern version control systems (Git; JJ).
  • Demonstrable experience with Agile delivery (Scrum or Kanban).
  • Practical experience using agentic code harnesses to accelerate requirement planning, code generation, quality gates, and delivery.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver software architectures for hand‑off and implementation.
  • Solid understanding of automated testing methodologies (Pact, TDD, BDD) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Some exposure to legacy web frameworks (ZK, Django).
  • Experience building and delivering network automations is beneficial.
