Senior Backend Engineer – 6 Month Contract
£550 per day | Outside IR35 | 6 months | Fully Remote (UK)
We’re working with a large, established organisation looking for a Senior Backend / Full Stack Engineer to join their engineering team on an initial 6-month contract.
This is a backend-led role, suited to an experienced engineer who can take ownership of technical decisions and contribute to the design and development of scalable, cloud-native services.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for designing, building and improving backend services and APIs within a modern AWS environment, with some involvement across the wider application stack.
You’ll work closely with engineers and product stakeholders, contributing to technical design, architecture and engineering standards, while taking ownership of solutions through to production.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
