Full-Stack Software Engineer – Java / JavaScript / AI
Location: Manchester – 1–2 days onsite per week
Rate: £560 per day (Inside of IR35)
Duration: 6 months, with potential extension
A leading global technology organisation is seeking experienced Full-Stack Software Engineers to join a multidisciplinary team developing innovative, customer-facing search experiences.
This is a hands-on role covering micro frontends, Backend-for-Frontend services and Java-based backend systems, deployed within an AWS environment.
You will also use AI coding agents such as Claude and Codex to support software development, while retaining responsibility for reviewing, testing, and delivering high-quality code.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and optimise customer-facing features across web and mobile platforms.
- Build micro frontends and Backend-for-Frontend services using JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks.
- Develop and integrate scalable Java web services and APIs.
- Use AI agents to support feature development, testing, and software delivery.
- Translate product requirements and UX designs into responsive and accessible features.
- Produce clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Support system reliability, monitoring, scalability, and performance.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and data specialists in an Agile environment.

Essential experience:
- At least three years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong full-stack development experience across frontend and backend systems.
- Java and Java-based frameworks for backend development.
- JavaScript or TypeScript, ideally with React or Vue.js.
- Experience building or consuming REST or GraphQL APIs.
- Practical experience using AI coding agents to develop and deploy software features.
- Strong experience delivering applications within AWS environments.
- Understanding of SQL or NoSQL databases and data modelling.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests.
- Git and modern software-development practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable experience:
- Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
- AWS CloudFormation or similar infrastructure tools.
- Micro frontend and Backend-for-Frontend architectures.
- Monitoring, SLIs, SLOs, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- A/B testing and data-led product development.
- Experience working on high-volume, global consumer platforms.
