FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Full Stack Engineer to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 3 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid 3 days a week in office role that will be based in London.

Our client is seeking a highly capable Full Stack Engineer to join a key engineering team delivering strategic lending and banking technology initiatives. This role requires a hands-on engineer with strong experience across modern Java backend development, React-based front-end technologies, cloud-native engineering, and microservices architecture.

The successful candidate will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, working within agile feature teams to design, build, test and deploy scalable applications supporting critical business services.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable full-stack applications.
  • Build high-quality RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Develop responsive front-end solutions using React and/or React Native.
  • Contribute to cloud-native application development on AWS.
  • Implement secure coding standards and engineering best practices.
  • Develop automated testing and integration solutions.
  • Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and continuous delivery initiatives.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners and feature teams to deliver business outcomes.
  • Support platform modernisation and transformation programmes.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive continuous improvement.

About You

  • 5+ years' commercial experience in Full Stack Engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience with Java development.
  • 5+ years' experience with React and/or React Native.
  • Strong experience with Spring Boot.
  • REST API design and development.
  • Microservices architecture.
  • SQL and database technologies.
  • TDD, BDD and integration testing practices.
  • CI/CD pipeline implementation.
  • AWS cloud engineering.
  • DevOps and continuous delivery experience.
  • Secure coding practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous Banking or Financial Services experience.

Desirable Skills

  • Lending domain experience.
  • Agile delivery experience.
  • Event-driven architecture.
  • SonarQube and Veracode.
  • Jira and Confluence.
  • Test automation frameworks.
  • Platform migration and legacy decommissioning projects.
  • Strategic and solution-focused mindset.
