About Us

Raptor is a London-based global youth marketing agency, with major clients from Google to Airbnb to Deliveroo to Gymshark. Now we are building something of our own: a new consumer platform made for the young people legacy platforms have always overlooked.

The platform is almost built and soon to be in the hands of real users as we are approaching its full public launch, with household-name brands already in the funnel. This is a small, fast-moving, commercially driven team where strong ideas and strong execution matter equally.

We are deliberately in stealth ahead of launch, so we are not going to spell out exactly what we are building here. If your application lands, we will walk you through the full picture on the first call. We think it is worth the conversation.

The Role

We have built the platform and everything we run on today from the ground up. The team so far is made up of exceptional innovators and early adopters, and as we grow we need a counterpart: someone to take ownership of the live codebase, keep the platform healthy and reliable, and bring the operational discipline a production platform needs as usage climbs.

This is the first dedicated engineering hire beyond our founding engineer, and the foundation of a broader engineering team. We are looking for an experienced engineer, open to mid-to-senior levels. You will be fluent with modern AI coding tools, but just as capable with them switched off. You treat AI as leverage, not a crutch, with the judgement to keep a live system stable.

This is a hands-on role first. You will own day-to-day delivery and platform reliability, work shoulder-to-shoulder with the team, and increasingly shape how we build as the team grows.

What You Will Own

Our Technical Environment

Our Stack Is a High-performance, Modern Monorepo Designed For Developer Velocity, Automated Testing And Scale. We Work Within a Turborepo-managed Workspace (pnpm, TypeScript, Bun) That Powers a Distributed Architecture

  • Frontend and web: Next.js 16 (App Router) and React 19, utilising Server Actions, transitions and the new "use cache" features. Styled with Tailwind CSS.
  • Mobile: React Native
  • APIs and workflows: durable background workflows, distributed systems and asynchronous queue orchestration.
  • Database and caching: Google Cloud (Firestore, Auth, Cloud Functions).
  • Infrastructure: deployments and cloud integrations across GCP and Vercel.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Platform and Codebase

  • Take ownership of the existing codebase, building deep working knowledge of how the platform is architected and why.
  • Look after the platform in its live state: monitoring, reliability, performance and uptime as usage scales.
  • Ship new features and improvements across the stack, from the React Native app to our custom admin backend and background workflow systems.
  • Bring engineering discipline to a fast-built codebase: implementing testing (Vitest, Playwright), automated validation gates, observability and technical documentation.

Operations and Reliability

  • Keep the platform running smoothly as our user and partner numbers climb.
  • Own incident response: identify, triage and resolve issues quickly, and put guardrails in place so they do not recur.
  • Maintain and improve integrations, including our CRM and partner-facing tooling.
  • Manage releases and infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform and Vercel, balancing speed of delivery against stability.

Building the Function

  • Work closely with the team as the second engineer, sharing ownership of technical direction.
  • Help define how we build: process, code quality, testing rigour and our approach to AI-assisted development.
  • As the team grows, take on responsibility for hiring, mentoring and leading engineers.
  • Translate commercial and marketing priorities into a technical roadmap, and communicate trade-offs clearly to the founding team.

Who You Are

What You Bring

  • Significant experience as a software engineer, with a track record of owning production systems end to end.
  • Genuinely AI-native: you use modern AI coding tools daily to ship faster, but you are equally strong without them, with the fundamentals and judgement to review, debug and keep a live system stable.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining secure integrations, particularly user identity, authentication or trust and safety systems.
  • A pragmatic builder: you balance execution speed with code health, knowing when to write thorough test suites and when to ship a lean MVP to validate a product feature.
  • Expertise in TypeScript and modern frontend technologies: Next.js (App Router, Server Actions, caching patterns) and React 19.
  • Deep understanding of clean code and SOLID principles, ensuring maintainable, scalable architecture as the codebase grows.
  • Solid understanding of Google Cloud (Firestore, Auth, Cloud Functions) and the Repository Pattern.
  • Familiarity with durable execution patterns (state serialisation, background workflow checkpoints) or distributed queues.
  • Strong full-stack ability: comfortable across a React Native application and a custom backend.
  • A reliability and operational mindset: you care about quality gates, type-safety and test coverage (Vitest, Playwright).
  • Commercially aware: you understand the link between engineering decisions and business outcomes, and you prioritise accordingly.
  • Self-directed and comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with limited hand-holding.
  • UK-based and eligible to work in the UK, able to be in London roughly one day a month.
