About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full Stack Lead Engineer to join our Application Platform Team at Dunnhumby Ltd. This leadership role requires a blend of technical expertise and people management skills, as you will guide a talented team of engineers in delivering high-quality, scalable, and reliable solutions. As a Lead Engineer, you will work closely with platform, product, and data teams to develop innovative systems that support the company's strategic objectives. Your role will also involve mentoring engineers at various levels, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring adherence to best practices in code quality, deployment, and system reliability.
This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the technical direction of critical projects, implement modern engineering practices, and contribute to a dynamic and forward-thinking organization committed to excellence and innovation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and collaborating across functions to achieve shared goals.
Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience with .NET, Python, React/JavaScript, and Terraform, with additional exposure to Go or Rust considered a plus.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native environments, including Kubernetes, Helm, and GitOps practices.
- Experience in shipping production-quality code within cloud environments such as GCP or Azure.
- Solid knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, including tools like GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Octopus Deploy.
- Deep commitment to code quality, testing, and adherence to industry standards.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes patterns, ArgoCD, secrets management, and multi-cloud strategies.
- Good understanding of observability tools like New Relic and what constitutes effective monitoring and alerting in production systems.
- Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and work collaboratively across teams and functions.
- Experience managing and mentoring engineers, supporting their growth and development.
- Comfortable working within Agile methodologies and maintaining pragmatic processes.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Encourages knowledge sharing through practical approaches such as pairing and comprehensive documentation.

- Lead and inspire a team of engineers to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality software solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including platform, product, and data teams to define technical strategies and roadmaps.
- Ensure best practices around code quality, testing, deployment, and system reliability are consistently followed.
- Design and implement cloud-native architectures utilizing Kubernetes, Helm, and GitOps principles.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring efficient and automated deployment processes.
- Support and mentor engineers at various levels, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Drive innovation by exploring new technologies and methodologies that can enhance system performance and scalability.
- Maintain system observability and performance monitoring, proactively addressing issues before they impact users.
- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
- Promote a collaborative environment that values diversity, inclusion, and knowledge sharing.
