Role: Senior Java Full Stack Developer
Job Type: Permanent
Location: Manchester, United Kingdom
Number of hours: 40 hours per week – full time
The Role
Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture. They collaborate with business and technical teams to analyze requirements, build secure and high-performance solutions, perform code reviews, resolve complex production issues, and ensure delivery of high-quality software through Agile development practices and DevOps methodologies.
Your responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based applications using Spring Boot.
- Develop RESTful APIs and microservices following enterprise standards.
- Build responsive and user-friendly web applications using Angular.
- Integrate frontend applications with backend services and APIs.
- Implement business logic, validations, and application workflows.
- Design and optimize database schemas, SQL queries, and store procedures.
- Work with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL databases.
- Implement authentication and authorization using Spring Security, OAuth2, and JWT.
- Develop event-driven solutions using Kafka or messaging platforms.
- Participate in architecture, design, and technical discussions.
- Perform unit testing and integration testing using JUnit and Mockito.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business Analysts, QA, and Product Owners.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application defects and production issues.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
- Containerize applications using Docker and deploy on Kubernetes.
- Monitor application performance and optimize system reliability.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Continuously improve application performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Senior Java Full Stack Developer with experience in designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-scale applications using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Angular, Kafka, REST APIs, and Cloud technologies. Strong expertise in system design, design patterns, CI/CD, Agile methodologies, and leading end-to-end application development for high-performance and scalable solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience in designing and developing enterprise-scale applications using Java 21, with expertise in collections, multithreading, concurrency, performance tuning, design patterns, and secure coding practices.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining microservices-based applications, developing REST APIs, implementing security, and integrating with enterprise systems.
- Strong development experience in designing and developing microservices-based applications using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs. Strong knowledge of design patterns such as Singleton, Factory, Strategy, Builder, Circuit Breaker, Saga, and API Gateway patterns to build scalable, resilient, and maintainable enterprise applications.
- Strong hands-on experience in building responsive and scalable single-page applications (SPAs) using Angular 21, TypeScript, RxJS, and Angular Material. Skilled in developing reusable UI components, integrating REST APIs, implementing state management, and optimizing application performance in Agile environments.
- Experienced in designing and implementing event-driven and real-time data streaming solutions using Apache Kafka. Skilled in developing producers and consumers, managing message processing, ensuring high availability, scalability, and seamless integration with microservices and distributed systems.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- BFSI domain experience, preferably with investment banking, custody, or asset servicing applications.
- Experience with AWS/Azure cloud technologies.
- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases and caching technologies.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or Grafana.
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices.
- Understanding event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
- Exposure to test automation and BDD/TDD practices.
