Full Stack Developer (Outside IR35)

Contract Length: 6 Months
Location: London (Remote)
Hours: 40 Hours per Week
Start Date: ASAP

Overview

Our client, a leading organisation within the insurance sector, is seeking an experienced Full Stack Frontend Developer to support the delivery of modern digital platforms and customer-facing applications. This role will focus on building intuitive, scalable, and high-performance user interfaces that support key insurance services, including customer portals, policy management, underwriting workflows, and claims-related journeys.

Working within a cross-functional product team, you'll collaborate closely with backend engineers, architects, UX designers, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, data-driven solutions in a highly regulated environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial experience building enterprise-grade frontend applications using React
  • Advanced JavaScript and TypeScript development skills
  • Solid understanding of responsive design, modern UI development, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Experience developing reusable component libraries and scalable frontend architectures
  • Proven experience integrating RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and third-party platforms
  • Experience with state management solutions such as Redux or Zustand
  • Strong focus on application performance, accessibility, security, and user experience
  • Experience working in regulated environments such as Insurance, Financial Services, Banking, or FinTech
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks including Jest, Cypress, or Playwright
  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines

Desirable Skills

  • Experience delivering solutions within the Insurance sector
  • Exposure to policy administration, underwriting, claims, or customer self-service platforms
  • Experience with Next.js
  • Knowledge of Node.js backend development
  • Experience integrating AI-powered capabilities into digital products
  • Cloud experience across Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Experience working with Storybook and design systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain scalable React-based applications supporting key insurance operations
  • Build reusable UI components and shared frontend libraries aligned to design system standards
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to deliver seamless digital customer experiences
  • Integrate frontend applications with policy, claims, and customer data services via APIs
  • Ensure code quality through testing, peer reviews, and engineering best practices
  • Optimise applications for performance, accessibility, scalability, and security
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and continuous improvement initiatives across the development lifecycle
