In this Role
You’ll combine hands-on full stack development with technical leadership, building applications that support complex analytical and business workflows. Alongside delivering scalable, reliable software, you’ll help shape architecture, mentor engineers and explore how emerging technologies, including AI, can improve the way users work.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, develop and enhance enterprise applications using Java/Spring Boot and/or C#/.NET, alongside React and Python.
- Take ownership of technical design and architectural decisions, ensuring applications are scalable, maintainable and built for long-term use.
- Work closely with product managers, business users and senior stakeholders to translate complex requirements into effective software solutions.
- Guide and mentor engineers through code reviews, technical discussions and shared development practices.
- Improve application performance and reliability, investigating complex issues and delivering lasting solutions.
- Strengthen engineering standards, automated delivery and CI/CD processes across the team.
- Explore emerging technologies and develop proofs of concept, including practical applications of AI and intelligent automation.
- Contribute to technical initiatives across teams, helping improve how software is designed, built and delivered.

What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a strong background in enterprise full stack development.
- Deep expertise in Java/Spring Boot and/or C#/.NET, alongside production experience with React and familiarity with Python.
- A proven track record of designing scalable systems and making sound architectural decisions.
- Strong knowledge of software design patterns, data structures, algorithms and modern web technologies.
- Experience providing technical guidance, mentoring engineers and influencing development standards.
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions clearly to both engineering teams and business stakeholders.
- A curious, practical approach to problem solving and an interest in exploring new technologies.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

It Would Also Be Beneficial To Have
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.
- Cloud experience and an understanding of microservices and cloud-native architecture.
- Experience experimenting with generative AI, AI/ML integration or intelligent automation.
- Exposure to financial services, analytical applications or regulated business environments.

- Location: Manchester (Hybrid)
- Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 + bonus
