The company

Most money apps show you where your cash went. This one is built to show you where it's going next.

They've just closed a pre-seed round and are getting early press attention as a name to watch in AI-driven financial planning.

This search is being run on a confidential basis at the client's request. Full company details are shared on an initial call.

The role

This is Engineer #1/#2 territory — someone who can own the stack end to end and set the technical foundation the next five hires will build on.

  • Ship full stack, from account aggregation and open banking integrations to the AI planning layer at the core of the product
  • Own architecture decisions early — there's no legacy to work around, but no safety net either
  • Work directly with the founders, shaping product and technical direction, not just executing a backlog
  • Build for a fintech context: secure, accurate, and trustworthy by default, not bolted on later

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who they want

Strong full stack engineer

  • Ideally has a recognisable brand on the CV — a scaled startup, a known tech company, or a fintech name that signals you've built at pace and under real constraints before
  • Early-stage instincts: comfortable with ambiguity, moves fast, doesn't wait for perfect specs
  • Bonus: experience with financial data / open banking integrations or LLM-powered products

  • Direct line to the founders — no layers, no politics, real ownership
  • A product with a clear, differentiated wedge (co-pilot vs. dashboard) in a large, obviously growing category
  • The chance to define the engineering culture, not inherit one
