About the Company
Our client is a major global insurance and financial services organisation building out a centralised, secure data lake platform to support its wider data strategy. The platform gives a holistic view of raw, curated and standardised data, and is designed to make it far easier for contributing and consuming teams across the business, including claims, underwriting and distribution, to access and use that data through strong automation.
The Role
You'll join the data lake team as a Data Engineer, building and maintaining ETL/ELT ingestion and egress patterns that reduce manual bottlenecks and free up engineering time for higher-value work. You'll design and implement APIs, contribute to React frontend work, collaborate closely on AWS cloud architecture, and help instrument the platform with strong observability. You'll also play a part in agreeing and promoting the right use of the data lake for both informational and operational purposes across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
