Job Description: Full Stack Engineer
Our client is a PE backed European BESS (Battery Storage) platform.
We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to support the build of a next-generation software platform for European grid-scale BESS trading. You will work across the stack, from the interfaces traders and operators rely on to the services and data pipelines that connect optimisation engines to physical assets.
You will join an in-house engineering team and work in an AI-native way. You will own features end to end, from specification to production, and help shape the standards that let AI agents reliably contribute to a production-grade codebase.
Responsibilities:
Product & Platform Development
- Design, build and ship features across front end, back end and APIs for our trading, dispatch and asset-monitoring platform.
- Build responsive, data-dense interfaces (dashboards, bid and schedule views, asset performance and P&L visualisation) for traders, operators and asset managers.
- Develop and maintain reliable, well-tested services that expose market, asset and forecast data to internal users and downstream systems.
AI-Native Engineering
- Work daily with agentic coding tools (e.g. Claude Code) and contribute to our spec-driven delivery pipeline.
- Write clear, executable specifications and contribute to Architecture-as-Code practices that allow agents to generate, refactor and review code safely.
- Help improve automated testing, review and CI/CD loops so velocity increases without compromising quality.

Trading & Dispatch Integration
- Contribute to low-latency, automated trading and dispatch workflows that connect bidding strategies to physical assets.
- Work with Data Scientists to surface price forecasts and optimisation outputs in production systems.
Data, Telemetry & Cloud
- Build and consume pipelines handling high-frequency telemetry from distributed BESS sites (Modbus, MQTT).
- Work with our Databricks-based lakehouse (Medallion architecture) to expose data reliably to applications and ML inference.
- Deploy and operate services on public cloud using containers and infrastructure-as-code, with a focus on reliability, observability and security.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Full stack experience: 4+ years building and shipping production software across front end and back end, with clear ownership of features from design to deployment.
- Languages & frameworks: Strong Python and TypeScript, with a modern front-end framework (e.g. React). Experience with Go or Rust is a plus.
- APIs & services: Solid experience designing REST/gRPC/event-driven services and working with relational and time-series data stores.
- Cloud & infrastructure: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure or GCP, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
- Agentic development: Practical experience using LLM coding tools (e.g. Claude Code) in day-to-day engineering, and comfort working from specifications and tests rather than ad hoc prompting.
- Engineering fundamentals: Testing discipline, CI/CD, code review, monitoring and incident response in a production environment.

Desirable:
- Exposure to energy, power markets or commodity trading (intraday continuous, day-ahead, ancillary services), or to BESS, VPPs or flexible asset optimisation.
- Experience with streaming or IoT telemetry pipelines (MQTT, Modbus, Kafka or similar), including intermittent connectivity and high concurrency.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake or Snowflake, and MLOps tooling (MLflow, feature stores, model serving).
- Experience with agent frameworks (e.g. LangGraph), MCP servers or custom agent loops.
- Background in a start-up or scale-up environment where engineers own outcomes broadly.
