About the Team
Join Citi’s GenAI Common Platform Engineering team and help build the technology powering Citi Assist — a Generative AI assistant designed to transform how hundreds of thousands of Citi colleagues work.
We’re building from the ground up, combining the scale and reach of a global bank with the mindset and pace of a technology start-up. You’ll work alongside talented engineers and AI specialists, with genuine ownership and the opportunity to shape how Citi builds and adopts GenAI safely and at scale.
The Role
We’re looking for a data-focused Full-Stack Engineer to help make Citi Assist smarter, safer and better every day.
You’ll build the systems behind testing, evaluation and feedback — turning real-world data into insights that improve the quality and performance of our AI products.
You’ll work across the stack, from React and data visualisation to backend services, APIs and data pipelines, owning features end-to-end and helping shape the technical direction of the platform.
This is a role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, moves with pace, takes ownership and wants to have a genuine impact on how AI is built and used at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Build testing, evaluation and feedback platforms for GenAI products
- Develop full-stack features using TypeScript, React and Python
- Build scalable APIs, backend services and data pipelines
- Design data models and frameworks to measure AI quality and performance
- Create dashboards and visualisations that turn data into actionable insights
- Analyse AI performance and identify opportunities to improve quality
- Own features from concept and design through to production
- Influence architecture, technical direction and engineering standards
- Build with security, resilience, quality and regulatory compliance in mind
- Mentor engineers, share knowledge and help raise the engineering bar

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
