About the Role
This Software Engineer role focuses on carbon intelligence, an AI-driven platform helping industrial organisations measure, manage, and reduce environmental impact while decarbonising. This solution enables users to shift from static sustainability reporting to operational decision-grade intelligence embedded within their core business workflows.
The platform delivers:
- End-to-end carbon intelligence across Scoring 1, 2, and 3 emissions
- Scalable decarbonization pathways tailored for complex industrial environments
- Near real-time insights fostering faster, smarter organisational decision-making
As a core member of the team, you’ll:
- Build scalable, cloud-based solutions that delight users and drive real-world outcomes.
- Elevate collaboration across heterogeneous teams.
- Champion the delivery of secure, observable, high-performance software—both front-end and back-end—spanning general-purpose languages, frameworks, and architectures (not limited to proprietary systems).

This role starts within our carbon intelligence domain but serves as a springboard across our broader AI-driven product portfolio, where you can grow across technologies and innovations as we evolve.
Core Responsibilities

Design & Develop
- APIs, microservices & UI components with accessibility-first principles.
- Refactor legacy systems into modular, event-driven architectures reimagined as API-first components.
- Deploy AI-native features across both front-end and back-end, leveraging multiple technical stacks as required.
- Champion devops-by-default—CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and automated deployment.

Product & Services Quality
- Own reliability management:
- Telemetry, SLO/SLM definitions, error budget management, on-call rotations, and incident response.
- Develop and enhance observability frameworks for operational visibility.
- Collaborate with Platform Engineers on shared DevOps services while maintaining application-specific DevOps leadership.
- Advocate for code quality, documentation, and best-in-class performance.

- Deliver outcomes inspired by customer needs, embedding elegant engineering solutions that reshape industry approaches.
- Take full ownership of product assurance, including:
- Automated testing, proof-of-concept validation, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers in discovery, technical trade-offs, and delivery.

Qualifications
Must-Have Skills & Experience
✅ Full-stack development expertise, proven in either front-end or back-end technologies. ✅ DevOps proficiency:
- CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and incident management. ✅ Programming flexibility: Broad experience across multiple general-purpose languages (including Go (Golang) for back-end, React for front-end). ✅ Accountability mindset; passion for code quality, documentation, and performance.
Bonus Extras
🔹 Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid designs. 🔹 Team player who thrives in cross-functional environments. 🔹 Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and real-time decision systems.
