Job Title: Software Engineer II (6-Month Contract)
Location: Manchester, UK (Hybrid - 2 days/week in office)
Hours: 37.50 hours/week
Role Overview
We are looking for a product-minded Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our growing Search & Discovery team. You will help build our next-generation inspirational discovery platform and conversational AI-driven search capabilities (integrating GenAI/ChatGPT-like features). We are seeking "builders" who actively engage with Product Managers and UX Designers to challenge assumptions, solve customer friction, and take ownership of end-to-end features rather than acting as simple task executors.

Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and deploy scalable, high-availability customer-facing features across modern frontend and backend services.
- Partner directly with Product Managers and UX teams to refine product specifications and improve user experiences across the upper customer funnel.
- Design resilient microservice architectures and participate in system design sessions.
- Maintain high standards of code quality through live technical reviews, test coverage, and performance optimization.
Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

Frontend:
- Strong expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
Backend:
- Solid foundation in Java microservices.
Cloud & Infrastructure:
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and RESTful APIs (Python knowledge is a plus).
Experience Level:
- 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience delivering B2C/customer-facing products.
Mindset & Background:
- Experience in both high-growth startups and established tech environments is highly valued.
