About the Role

Build products that actually matter

We're a UK-based home-services and insurance group looking for an experienced.NET / Azure Product Engineer to join our in-house technology team on a long-term B2B contractor basis.

This is a fully remote opportunity for a contractor based anywhere in Europe outside the UK, working directly with our UK team.

This isn't an outsourcing bench or a short-term freelance project. You'll work on real products and business-critical systems, take ownership of meaningful work and see the impact of what you build. Our technology supports a busy UK business, with systems used every day by customers, engineers and operational teams.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll work across a mature.NET and SQL Server environment, developing new functionality while improving reliability, performance and maintainability. You'll be involved in:

  • C# and modern.NET
  • ASP.NET Core, MVC and Web API
  • Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL
  • Entity Framework and LINQ
  • Azure services
  • CI/CD and automated testing
  • Production debugging and problem solving
  • Integrations and performance improvements
  • Modernising established systems safely
  • Working with technical and operational colleagues to understand the problem before deciding on the solution

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally have 4+ years of strong commercial experience developing with C# and modern.NET. We're particularly interested in people who:

  • Have strong production experience with C# /.NET
  • Understand SQL Server and data-access performance
  • Have practical Azure experience
  • Can investigate difficult production problems
  • Write clean, maintainable and well-tested software
  • Understand the risks of changing established live systems
  • Can explain technical decisions clearly
  • Take ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do
  • Are looking for a stable, ongoing B2B engagement rather than a short freelance assignment
  • Have strong written and spoken English

Experience with Azure DevOps, Git or TFS is useful.

AI is Part of How We Work

We actively encourage responsible use of modern AI development tools. We can provide an agreed professional AI coding tool such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Codex.

We aren't interested in whether you can simply type code quickly. We're interested in whether you can use modern tools intelligently, verify their output and deliver reliable software.

What We Offer

  • £160–£180 per day, approximately 200–210 billable days per year
  • Long-term B2B contract
  • Fully remote working from anywhere in Europe (outside the UK)
  • Stable product backlog
  • Meaningful product ownership
  • Direct access to technical and business decision-makers
  • Professional AI development tooling
  • Clear priorities and expectations
  • Regular rate reviews based on contribution and impact
  • No keyboard monitoring

Our Selection Process

  • 30-minute initial conversation - We'll discuss your experience, location, availability, business arrangements and expectations.
  • Technical discussion - You'll talk us through real systems you've worked on, including a difficult production problem and the decisions you personally made.
  • Verification - Successful candidates will complete appropriate identity, business, banking and reference checks before engagement.

How to Apply

Please apply with your CV and answer these four questions in no more than 300 words in total:

  • What is the biggest measurable impact you've personally made on a production system?
  • How do you use AI development tools, and what is one important AI-generated mistake you've caught?
  • Which European country do you currently live and work in, what registered business would contract with us, and what is your expected day rate?
  • When could you start, and can you provide a code sample, GitHub profile, or detailed walkthrough of previous work?

Please contact: recruitment@emailbig.co.uk

We're looking for a genuine business-to-business partner for the long term - not just another short contract.
